Yesterday was kiln fixing day

Yesterday was the dreaded day to tear the kiln down and replace some bricks and put new elements in. Never a fun activity!  Ed from Continental Clay in Minn MN gave me some great pointers on brick replacement. Thanks Ed!
Once done I was limping around like a ninety yr old but the initial cone 04 burn out firing completed as usual. PTL! I got up at midnight to check on it and it was complete. Hopefully I won't have to do this for another year!

A rainy weekend has continued into a Monday. Hard to believe that it's June, we in Northern Wisc never had an April, and spring happened suddenly in late May. But, the studio is open and flowers planted. Pottery is being made as well as Barry weaving more baskets.

Saturday, March 8, 2014

Well it's the 8th of March and warmer today. Thought I would show you what our back yard path is like to the house, the side yard to the studio and front corner of studio. Barry is removing some of the snow off that corner.  The kiln hut is next to the back corner of house, hopefully tomorrow when I run the kiln some of the snow will come down!

When all the snow starts to melt I hope the ground thaws fast so we don't flood too much.  I cannot wait for spring I think!

Enjoy the sun and warmth.

February 2014

Yeah, I know it's still winter, but isn't it more fun to look at images of summer and the studio.  We have about 30 inches of snow out there, it's below zero alot, so why dwell on that?

Lets plan what flowers we are going to plant.  If this is the year with warm enough temps to really have a good tomato crop!!
What our lives are like isn't just by accident. We decide whether to be bitchy, bold, creative, shy, thoughtful or,,,well you get the picture. Our days are getting longer by 3 minutes or so every day! That is something to shout about. The black squirrel is back with his girlfriend and eating us out of house and home! Chickadees and gold finches visit the feeders and the big sassy bluejays feed next to the bunnies in the snow.  It's great to be alive and praise God, be safe and healthy. I hope my positive thoughts extend to you!
